Wow we needed that, didn’t we. A clean sheet, an away win, three points and a goal for Kozak on his debut and extra satisfaction for Paul Lambert with his ongoing bitterness towards the board of Norwich .
But the one thing we didn’t need was our Maverick centre forward Christian Benteke getting injured. It wasn’t as if he was clattered by a big strapping centre half, he slipped and injured his hip which shouldn’t keep him out of the side for to long. But the up side to the incident was Libor Kozak, he came on for the fallen Dane and scored within two minutes, maybe we’ve found another gem! The ball was played to the feet of Czech with a great pass from the left back Tony Moon, which created a one on one with the Norwich keeper, Ruddy saved his shot which deflected into the path of Agbonlahor who cut the ball back to the waiting Kozak in space and give him a second chance to score his debut goal, which he gratefully dispatched, Get in!
We also got a clean sheet out of the game, even though you thought, he we go again!! When Clark conceded a penalty that never should’ve been given by the ref, who I can’t even care to name! So up stepped Bradley Guzan, Villa’s number one keeper and saved the penalty, which sent The Villa faithful wild. A saved goal is almost as good as a scored goal, don’t you think?
Brad who was my Man Of The Match, made some outstanding saves throughout the game as Norwich were trying desperately to get an equaliser which didn’t come, thank God!! Isn’t it great the come back Guzan made after his horror show when we played Newcastle last week, Well done mate!
So at the end of it all, we get three points for our efforts, a little realisation that we don’t need to rely solely on Benteke for goals. We must learn as Villans that we shouldn’t put all our eggs in one players basket, because if they get injured or sold, then someone must step up to the plate, put on the Claret And Blue and take our beautiful club forward. So don’t fret to much, its not the end of the world if we loose any player. UTV
So what are your thoughts. Please leave a comment below and lets spark some debate, thank you.
Not the greatest performance but we battled through it. There are plenty of reasons to be positive and a couple or reasons for concern. Ultimately we know we will always be a threat away from home. The next month of action sees us play 4 home games in 5. Those are Spurs(cup), Man City, Spurs(league) and Everton. Last season we only managed 1 point at home to the top 7 teams. This time around we must do better. UTV
For me our best player was Guzan. Which shows how easy Norwich could have found themselves back in the match. Gotta agree with TJ above, that our true test is about to come with the amount of home matches we’ve got. It’s becoming a self fulfilling prophecy this tag we’ve got as a side the win away from home. It’s got to stop!! So come on Lambert, sort it out. UTV
Scary times ahead, we’ve got home matches!!!
