Driving back from Villa Park you would be hard pressed for not feeling in a flat mood, especially after you just watched your team being beat when they didn’t deserve to. There was an air of optimism around Villa park and the Villa Faithful were really up beat, and why not, hell Aston Villa were on a real good run of form.
The Good…
The first half started really well for both sides, and the young Villa Lions looked up for it. Fabian Delph was at the top of his game from the beginning (for me he was my man of the match) and Yacouba Sylla who was the man of the match plaid an absolute blinder, constantly harrying and upsetting the rhythm of the Chelsea midfield and looking a threat going forward, he only needs to improve his shooting at goal then what a midfielder he could be. And when One Christian Benteke scored on fifteen minutes you had the feeling it could be our day, especially when Ramires was sent off for second bookable offence.
The Bad…
The second half started and it was all Villa, the little dynamo that is Delph carried on playing like he did in the first half, in fact the defence, midfield, and attack were all playing like a team that wouldn’t look out of place in the top four (yes I know Chelsea were down to 10 men). Then The Bad and that goes to Lee Mason the match referee. If I’m really honest the Ramires second yellow was a soft yellow card so would know that a referee like Lee Mason would want to even things up in the second half, and thats exactly what he done by sending of Christian Benteke, and listen to me it was a harsh booking, no way in a million years was that a second yellow card offence, but the big man had to walk.
Well that changed the rhythm of the game, Villa going down to 10 men gave Chelsea the boost that they needed, and of course they scored 3 minutes later with Frank Lampards first goal to level it 1-1. Villa did compete for the rest of the game but it was all undone in the 88th minute when Lampard got his second which turned out to be the winner.
The Ugly…
So who is The Ugly. Well he played two parts in this mini epic and thats Lee Mason. I called it in the 15 minute interval at the end first half. I said to the lads that if he gets the chance he would try to even things up with a second yellow to one of our Young Lions, Benteke or Baker, I even suggested to the boys that Paul Lambert might bring one of them off after 10 minutes of play in the second half. But he didn’t and we lost the match, a match were we deserved at the minimum a point!!!
Stiliyan Petrov
So there you go The Good The Bad And The Ugly of this Aston Villa vs Chelsea match. But there was one little bit of good left and that happened at the end of the match and that was Stiliyan Petrov. I’m a man who likes to go on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter and some of bile coming out of so called Villa fans mouths about Stan made me feel sick at times, maybe they were blue noses with a false account pretending to be Villa fan’s I don’t know. But what I do know is that from what ever side of the city your from or football team you support the human side of any man or woman should be one of compassion for this poor man with dreadful disease. Because when you see him with wife and children (and you can see he is very ill) I thank my lucky stars that me and mine are all healthy. So Good Luck to you Stan you will always be welcome at Villa Park and if there is a God (I don’t believe there is) then God Bless you stan.
