Stupid Villa Fans And Dr Xia’s Tweets

tweetAre you happy with Aston Villa’s dealings in the transfer market? I am! The Doc has kept true to his word and splashed the cash on players that he and RDM believe will help Aston Villa with their recovery. Gone are many of the losers that should never have had the chance of wearing the Claret and Blue, and the new players we’ve brought in, for me, I’m not disappointed at all.

Admittedly, when the Doc first started tweeting about what was going on with all things Aston Villa, I didn’t know if I really liked it, but his tweets have kept us all well-informed throughout the entire transfer window saga. Not having to rely on the speculation from ITK accounts and the general media has been a welcome change, and I do repeat, this took a little time for me to get used too, but now, I love Tony tweets!

But not all fans are happy with the dealings that Aston Villa have done. One fan on social media tweeted that, he would send his season ticket back if there wasn’t any new players signed that didn’t excite him as much as what Adama Traore did! All I can say about this person or any other fan that feels that we haven’t done good business, please carry out your threat, give your season ticket back, you won’t be missed!

All in all, I believe that we’ve done very good business in the transfer market. We’ve brought players in that are experienced in this league, we are the big cheese in this division, and in terms of spending power, we’re acting accordingly and spending BIG! However, we must give this squad time to get used to each other, so if things aren’t going to your plan, it’s important that we don’t take our frustrations out on the Doctor, he’s stuck to his side of the bargain! 1. Well said. The squad now looks both stronger and better balanced even though it is slightly smaller. If it all gels, we are looking at a squad that can take on and beat the best the Championship can throw against them. Also, the Doc’s tweets are such a breath of fresh air you can’t help but enjoy them!

  2. Well said all what is needed now is a full stadium to back the team .Also to show support for the owner the manager and all his backroom staff UTV.

  3. Like the business we’ve done but don’t understand why we got rid of adama and Gil. two of our most skilful players. ok Gil is on loan and people say with the right development Adama one day will be great, well why can’t we develop him??

    • Didnt you watch any games last season? Gil far too lightweight and Adama far too erratic! Plus always injured and clearly didn’t want to stay. Nothing the club can do there. We’ve signed Adomah who is proven and played 47 games last season and a key performer

  4. Adama said that he didn’t want to play for the Villa, Dr X said he only wanted commited players so I think that may be the reason they sold him. Difficult situation I agree.

  5. Good post and some very important points.

Adama excited me when he first arrived and I thought we had a real player on our hands when he came on at Palace late on for his debut.

However, he never pushed on and his defensive frailty was shocking.

We must be happy with what the Doctor has sanctioned this transfer window and its now tome for the players to push on and deliver promotion at the first time of asking.

I do wish though Doctor Xia would perhaps refrain from putting too much on social media. I just think it is dangerous to be honest.

  6. I don’t see why everyone has a dig at Traore for his defending. Hes an attacker, let the defensive players do the defending. He should have been deployed on the last man at all times, we could have used him as an outlet with his blistering pace. Just get the ball clear and let him run on to it. Football is a simple game why over complicate it?

  7. Firstly, Adama wanted to leave, so there is absolutely no point in keeping him even if you want him to stay. We had too many players with this attitude last season and look where that got us. Secondly, besides his explosive pace and ability to go past a couple of players, he hasn’t got anything else – there is no end product. He’s been given opportunities in both the first team and U23’s and hasn’t given anything. Thirdly, he is injury prone. Unlucky last season with injuries maybe, but not worth a risk. Fourthly, he’s apparently on £50-70k a week, which is not sustainable for a player who doesn’t offer anything in the championship. Yes he could develop and turn into a great player, but he might not. I’m happy to let Middlesbrough take the risk on that one. Let’s not forget he was scouted and bought by Riley and Fox, based on their ‘vast football knowledge’. If anyone still thinks we should have kept Adama is deluded.

    • Deluded ? Because they may not agree with you ?
Adama was let go because the manager didn’t fancy his style of play. A real shame IMO and proves again that no manager gets everything right.
Adama was a special player who should sill be at Villa Park.
      IMO.

  8. Adam – first of all, every player on the pitch has defensive responsibilities and Traore wasn’t incapable of defending – he just refused. Secondly, if the game was as simple as “knocking it over the top for the fast bloke” then every game would finish in double figures. I don’t know how much football you’ve watched, but clearly you haven’t noticed how teams can very easily defend against pace by simply sitting deeper and not allowing space in behind.

    • Have you never watched Leicester play then? Did they not win the league last year by playing that exact way? I’m not saying that’s how we should play for 90 mins but it would have been an option at least for when we counter. How many times did we win the ball back and just slow it down and pass it back??? Every bloody time. You might like to see boring defensive minded games I personally like to see end to end fast pace games. Still saying all that I don’t think we should have kept him as he hasn’t got the right attitude for the championship, but he was never played in his natural position with a free role when he was fit.

  9. In this division, we need fighters and battlers. One crunching tackle and Adama would retreat into his shell. Not the player a lot of us hoped he would be and definitely not a player you need on the field when you’re scrapping in February. Players like Elphick and Jedinak, yes!

  10. Great to see the doc is a man who has kept his word as for Adama , very much reminds me of tony Daley , much of the time will be no end product , not needed in this league and if the doc says go I stand by his decision as it seems he wants only the best for the club and this is why I will be returning to villa park after four months away
