The two Villa players that really stood out for me Friday evening were, Idrissa Gueye (Gana) and Jordan Amavi. Amavi was up and down the left hand side of the football pitch like a jack in the box. This lad has come into our league without needing time to bed in. His awareness, skill and reading of the game were second to none, and I felt that something could happen every time this young lad was on the ball.
Gana in the midfield was looking to dictate things, and in the early parts of the match when he was at his freshest, he was probably the best player on the pitch. As the game wore on and his energy levels slightly dipped, he was still one of our better players. As he gets used to the tempo of the Premiership, I’m sure his influence will last longer.
Yes we lost, but we were not humiliated, and if some of the nailed on decisions that should have been made were made, then maybe we could have found ourselves drawing the match rather than losing it! But nobody really wants to be over critical (some might) when your only two games into the season and with a ruck load of new players getting to know each other, but some decisions from the Villa bench that should have been made, weren’t made!
Tim Sherwood is a new manager in every sense of the word, and I’m really a big admirer of his, and like our new players getting to know each other, he is still getting to grips of learning how to be a new manager himself. Some of his decision-making last night is open for a bit of fair-minded scrutiny.
Gabby should have been brought off the field of play long before Sinclair ever was, in fact, Ayew should have come off the pitch long before Sinclair! That doesn’t mean that Sinclair was having a great match himself, but for long periods of the match, I bloody well forgot that Gabby was playing! I could see it, plenty of the Villa faithful could see it and I think it’s fair to say that Sherwood should have seen it to.
Also, as the game wore on and we were trying to salvage a point, I thought we were trying to play the long ball just a little too much. Every ball that was pumped up the field came to nothing! We should have kept trying to get the ball up there the way we did most of the match, on the deck! This is something that Sherwood should have pointed out to the Villa players. So come on Tim, we can’t afford to have any passengers in the Villa team! UTV
Reference,gabby.
One would have to say without his pace he wouldn’t be a pro footballer, may be he soul be playing with his brother on a Sunday.
Last night I watched Preston play and Johnsons movement was very clinical, this is gabby s problem. He has no football brain to make a move across the box, its looks like Sherwood wants quick one touch football with movement.
Gabby its time for you to become an impact player .
THATS IT GABBY, enough is enough you know your not good enough. On west miss radio ,Steve frogget was asked why do they play gabby, he replied ” I have no idea” what he really would of liked to say is ,you ask any of the old European cup team from 82 and they would all same the same, no brain for movement.
TIME TO GO GABBY.
FIRST OF ALL WE SHOULD SAY THAT THE GAME IN NO WAY WAS A CLASSIC.
THE ONE THING THAT I BELIEVE THAT TIM & ALL THE OTHER COACHES HAVE GOT TO WORK ON IS THE STAMINA OF THE SQUAD.
OF COURSE I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RESULT, BUT LOOKING AT THE OVERALL PICTURE, THERE HAS BEEN SOME VERY SHREWD BUYS IN THIS TRANSFER WINDOW.
I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED TO SEE GABBY IN THE STARTING LINE UP, GESTEDE NEEDS TO BE ON FROM THE START. HE IS NOT A SUPER SUB, & UNITED HAD A GAME PLAN TO NULLIFY HIS THREAT & THEY KNEW WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO BY HOOFING IT UP TOWARDS HIM.
I AM CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO BE CRITICAL OF THE TEAM AS 10 NEW PLAYERS DEFINITELY NEED TIME TO GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER. MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS SUCH A UNFORGIVING LEAGUE, THAT BY THE TIME THEY GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER WE COULD BE SEVERAL POINTS ADRIFT.
