Oh Lambert Get With It Man!!!

lambertOne thing I’ve noticed since Paul Lambert has taken the helm at Villa is his inability to change the side when things aren’t going well. Take Villa vs Newcastle yesterday, anyone could see that our midfield was very exposed, which in turn puts pressure on the defence and as the game wore on we went a goal behind. You should let your starting line up try to correct it, but if you’re still a goal down going into the second half, it should only be for ten minutes, if nothing is happening, if areas on the pitch need strengthening and if players are not effective or putting a shift in, then you need to change things, be proactive, not when theres two minutes left to play, it looks and feels desperate and 99 times out of a 100 nothing is going to happen.

So on the back of one win in three games against the so called big clubs, we got three points for our efforts, but now if you read the win/loose stats, it says we’re one win and three losses, not very good hey! So from my point of view, Villa needed to take all three points yesterday, one to back up our relatively good performances, two to keep the Villa faithful on side and three, because we should be beating clubs like Newcastle when we’re at home.

So Paul, Please try and see when things are aren’t going right and make the changes that might affect the game, when there is plenty of time to do it, not at the last moment unless we need to defend a lead or something. UTV

  1. Yes ill be having a word with Mr Learner if Lambert doesn’t get with program. Sort it Lamby or your ass will be history. Well it would be if I was still was in charge. lol

  2. Agreed Glenn..PL is a good manager and I like what he’s trying to do at the Villa, but he is still learning himself. I’m sure things will start to get better in the future as he grows into the job.

  3. I think might have been one of the worst matches ive seen at villa park since Alex the muppet Mcliesh was in charge. Wiemann was useless, Gabby was idle, Guzan made some bad saves. I actually felt sorry for the defence, with a lack of numbers in midfield it actually put pressure on the defenders. Its Norwich next so god forbid we loose that one. Sort it Paul.

    • I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was as bad Mcliesh’s performances when he was in charge. Yes it wasn’t a good day at the office, but i’m sure they’ll come good quite soon. Oh yeah try and lay of PL, remember where we’ve been for the last three years.

  4. Very disappointing result against Newcastle, very early on it was evident the midfield mixture was not effective. Was being out played by the skill of Cabaye and Ben arfa and totally out muscled by Sisoko. However no midfield changes were made until tonev come onto the field. Why? I believe the answer is within Lambert personality. Lambert is a very stubborn person who would not admit that his research and tactics prior to the game are inaccurate therefore will often stick with the wrong team for long periods of time before making a change. I believe this is one of reasons he persists with the morroccon snake charmer who most of the villa faithful know is useless. Think it’s time to bring sylla back into the fold as we need high energy with power and force in midfield. Until midfield is sorted we will never keep a clean sheet.

    • Very good points of view Daley..But what do you think about the Okore situation, he could be out for the entire season and with Baker to come back it will only leave us with three recognised centre backs..Will lambert make a loan signing from somewhere, I think he needs to..Worrying Times!!!

      • Very bad news regarding Okore, looked like a useful player with plenty of potential. Don’t see us making any loan signings again It’s not something that lambert particularly favours as he has turn down loan opportunities in the past eg Gareth Barry, Robbie Keane. Think he is more likely to stick with players within. If we had a couple more injuries at the back would see Bacuna slotting in a right back and Lowton moving across into the middle. Also he has a young defender within the squad from the next gen squad called Donacien might she him promoted to the bench, and of course he also has Chris Herd who can do a job across the back. I know sounds scary but that is the reality.
