My Response To David Bradley’s Video

david bradleyEven the most stubborn Villa fan disillusioned with the way our club has been run over the recent years, should have been moved by the brilliant video celebrating 140 years of Aston Villa, which was wonderfully told by the award-winning actor, David Bradley. David took you on a roller coaster ride of emotion explaining how our cricketing founders chose football under a gas lamp to fill the lives of people with escapism in an era when times were very hard.

He took you through our triumphs and losses, and you couldn’t help being drawn in by his brilliant narration of our clubs ups and downs. There was no mention of the past 5 years of woe, which is probably one of the main reasons why it got to me, but thank goodness he didn’t, why spoil something so wonderfully put together.

Yes our lives are not as dark and heavy as the working class people who supported our club all those years ago, but I, like many of them, lived and witnessed successful times from 1975, which is something our young fans haven’t and they might view the video differently.

I’ve mostly taken 16 days off from all things Villa, and boy I needed it! The relentless way our club is being run, is our dark and heavy times, and it takes its toll. I wonder if the people who run our club watched that video and see where our club should rightfully be. Thank you to the people who made that video, it made me feel proud, happy and sad all within the space of 3 minutes, just the kind of escapism we’re not getting from our football club. UTV

  2. Wow that makes me proud ,ASTON VILLA chose me at goodison park in the cup 1975 my brother desperatly wanted me to support everton and used to spend his yts money taking me ,but once i seen that fantastic famous white away strip i was chosen.

  3. Nice piece Glenn, and a brilliant video from David Bradley, who I’ve been fortunate to meet when he had a season ticket near us in the Lower Holte, might still be there somewhere, he did move around almost every season, nice genuine bloke.

Like many I’m sick of this regime at VP, poor from the top to the bottom, with a manager rewarded a new 4 year contract for failure for failure, and an owner who’s only concern is filling his wallet, we were fooled. I honestly fear for us now.
