Maybe It Could Have Been Different?

Villa vs LiverpoolMaybe It Could Have Been Different

Firstly let me make it clear that I’m fully behind Paul Lambert and what he is trying to do at The Villa. But I would be betraying myself if I didn’t say what I was thinking, especially when it concerns anything to do with The Villa. And the first thing I thought was odd today, was when the team sheet was released and Karim El Ahmadi was left out of the starting line up!! Now for me that was a mistake on Paul’s part, because I believe if KEA would have been in the starting line up, we could have had at the minimum, a draw out of this match, if not a win, which I believed we good for especially after the win at the Emirates and very good performance at Stamford Bridge.

So why KEA on the bench? Was he tired after playing two in four. Maybe he saw Bacuna as more of an attacking threat? There were some people on twitter saying that they would have had Sylla over Bacuna as KEA was left out of the starting line up. Now this isn’t me digging out Bacuna, I try not to single out players if they’ve had a bad match, which Bacuna didn’t by the way, he played ok, like a lot of other Villa players today. But you could say maybe he would have been better off making his debut in a less high profile match. But I feel my thoughts were proved right when Karim El Ahmadi came on after 65 minutes for Lowton. Villa looked more of an attacking threat now that Karim was on and Delph (who was my Man Of The Match) had more help in mopping up potential Liverpool attacks.

So Paul, I’m not trying to tell you what to do! But please consider the effect it might have on the side and the result if you leave one of the form players out of the side. UTV

  1. Definitely wrong choice for me playing bacuna instead of sylla if KEA was injured that makes sylla our 3rd choice behind KEA & bacuna which seems a bit odd for me but let’s not moan 2 much its a good start with who we’ve played so only looking good not bad come on you villans !!!

  2. I’m sorry Glenn but I don’t agree with you. I think the outcome would have been the same wether KEA had started from the begging it not.

  3. I couldn’t understand why PL didn’t start with KEA. Don’t think he was injured or tired but I don’t think that was the main reason for us loosing at home on Saturday, it was those F**king idiots at the Premirship that made us play 3 games in 7 days. No wonder they jaded and had no sharpness in the first half!! If you want to blame anyone Villa Blogger blame administrators at the Premiership.

    • I still think the decision to leave Karim out of the starting line up didn’t help our cause. But on reflection I think you are right about the 3 matches in 7. That’s the main reason why we lost.
