The match was won inside 33 minutes and I think it wouldn’t of mattered which side we had put out, or what formation we had played, there was only gonna be one winner, and it wouldn’t have taken a genius to work that one out after ten minutes of play.
I had a chat with a Villa fan just before the match and I suggested we take a more of a defensive approach to the game because the goal difference between The Villa and Wigan was only one goal, and that was worth protecting. My mate on the other hand thought the best way to defend was to attack. Well we saw what happened, Man U 3 The Villa 0 at the end of the first half. Yet the second half was 0 0, and we played good defensive football with good on the break play and we created chances. We should have played the defensive game from the beginning and though I believe we still would have lost, it might have only been by one goal.
So the fight for survival continues, and we welcome Sunderland to Villa Park next Monday night. This game is now the most important for Villa, and nothing but a win will do. This could be tricky one due to the Dicanio Effect so the Villa faithful need to get behind The young Lions of Aston Villa and hopefully get a win.
it was like boys v men at old trafford the gulf between the top 2 or 3 teams and the rest is growing unless something is done , i dont begrudge man united their success as the money they make is generated by the club but what pisses me off are teams like chelsea and man city thinking they are big clubs because they are propped up by some sugar daddy who were they before the russian and arabs came , neither have the rich history and silverware we have, mind you though would i still feel the same if bill gates bought villa lol…right i feel better now ive had a rant….bring on sunderland by far the most important match this season ..COME ON YOU VILLA BOYS BOYS
It wasn’t so much men verses boys it was more about letting man u do wat they wanted 1st half cuz 2nd half was even stevens they ad far 2 much space & plenty time on the ball but afta the brk we got into em & played much beta which we shud of dun frm the off really
i agree to a point but man u took the foot off the peddle in the second half they knew the points were in the bag only if we could be able to see out games from winning positions at half time we wouldnt be in the position we are in now
To be honest it obviously was men against boys, the villa has a team of young lads and this is all very valuable experience. I agree Man U took their foot off the peddle but the signs from lamberts all round approach is really positive. Lets look to Sunderland and see if we can rouse the villa to a win. . . . . . . Nothing else will do COME ON THE VILLA ! ! ! ! !
YIPPEE IY AY YIPPEE IY OOH, HOLTE ENDERS IN THE SKY! ! ! !
totally agree , fully behind lambert… some of the boys have had a baptism of fire this year..with all the work experiance this year the lads will improve next year
Not good first half..better second..unfortunately I think we need a miracle to stay up.
Villa gave united the title, rvp was on fire though 3 good goals
They won the title anyway it wouldn’t of mattered who they played on monday nite wether it was villa or anyone else the home form says tht quite clear
A must win on Monday otherwise we’re going down.
A decent second half defensive performance prevented a drubbing, but ultimately Man U were on fire first half with the wrap up of the title at stake!
Villa didn’t help themselves though allowing United to play and allowing them acres of space in the first 40 minutes.
Last week over its all about Monday night now! Critical game!
I thought before the game that it would be 3-0.
Was a bit worried for a while that it might be another Chelsea score – glad we kept it to 3-0.
