I’ve put in various paragraphs from past posts to illustrate the big problems that Aston Villa have had for a while. We’ve been saying it for along time, everyone can see, everyone except for Randy Lerner and Tom Fox. Disgraceful!!!
The way things are going with the Teflon Scotsman in charge of us and going absolutely nowhere, you can forget about sleepwalking into the Championship, we’re actually sprinting into it. Lambert can’t help being hopelessly out of his depth, and any sane person would understand if he were to get the sack after his 3 unwanted record-breaking years in charge of the Villa. Unfortunately, Villa has an owner in Randolph Lerner, who’s just not willing to make any hard decisions for the well-being of AVFC, otherwise Lambert would have been long gone, so we’re stuffed and the horrific pain continues.
But Aston Villa have a problem, and it’s a very depressing one; it’s depressing to know that the owner will not make big decisions that are crucial to the well-being of Aston Villa Football Club. I don’t need to tell you the unwanted records that Lambert has broken, you already know them, and he’s still in a flipping job, crazy!!! Randy Lerner is supposed to be a fan, but he can’t be; he’s a stay away owner, he never comes to Villa Park!!! So, is he relying on people telling him that everything is all right? No, I say; the reality is, he’s an oddball, 4 Flipping Year Contracts!!!
Randy Lerner along with his past and current CEO’s, have let the fans and the institution that is Aston Villa Football Club down severely. The hiring of Alex McLeish (Birmingham City F.C.) and now the incompetence of our current manager (with an array of unwanted Villa records) who has the safest job in the whole wide world of football, are just to name a few. Is It ANY WONDER THAT PEOPLE HORRIFICALLY UNDERACHIEVE AT ASTON VILLA WITHOUT ACCOUNTABILITY.
What is the point of Bodymoor Heath; if the players aren’t learning how to be better players, then this world-class training facility is going to waste. This is supposed to be a place where the Villa players practise things like, team formation, shooting, crossing and a whole lot of other things to make them better footballers, but they can’t be practising because we don’t see it on the pitch. If we don’t start scoring more goals, then we could find ourselves sleepwalking into the bottom 3 of the Premiership. For God Sake, someone please sort it out!!!
Bang on, Lerner is as much to blame as dodgy Lambert… cracking article!
i cant see him surviving,,,
every team will play like hull against us,,,
it is so easy,,,,
we are truly truly pathetic,,,,
i actually laughed at my own team such was the ineptness
there is just no attacking threat from these players when we play this style
it has to change and change fast,,, we ARE going down
Incredibly worried that our luck has run out. Lambert has been riding his luck the last 3 seasons and I’m afraid we’re rightly fecked. The team set up, formation, bond, willingness to succeed is non existent. Even if we put who Villa are as an institution aside, we are essentially playing the same quality of football as a League 1 team. No leaders. We can’t score, giving away stupid goals….I feel are time in the Prem is over
for crying out loud, get rid of lambert NOW.what a twat.hes had his time just go
We have been severely let down by Lambert and Lerner, I don’t know about Fox I don’t know what he does. I have heard suggestions that Lambert should be promoted out of the Manager position to become Director of Football and bring in someone who knows about football. It may sound mad but I fear there is little chance that Lambert will get the sack so lets get him out of the way until summer. I saw him in the after match interview say that we must keep going, but going where? If ever there was a broken man this was it, he should now do the honorable thing and fall on his sword.
So Lambert says we have 13 cup finals now ! Really? I think he should do the honest thing, for the betterment of the club and do the Lambert Walk, maybe this Friday (the 13th), unlucky for some, but the kiss of death for Villa’s survival hopes if he doesn’t. Thanks … but NO thanks. Can we tempt a certain Mr Curbishley bakc to the football fraternity??
It’s Lerner who carries the full responsibility for the absolute shambles that this great club has been allowed to become.
He should have sold up when he initially became disinterested, which I feel was either when O’Neill walked, or when O’Neill took him to the cleaners in the court room.
Instead from afar he turned his back on the well being of AVFC, and allowed the club to drift and slide into mediocrity.
No leadership, no direction, no purpose, the only way for the club to move was backwards.
We’ve somehow escaped the drop these past few seasons by the skin of our teeth. This year I fear we wont be so fortunate.
As for Lambert and his position at the helm, what the hell can one say that hasn’t been said before?
He’s clueless, and has no idea how to turn this mess around. That’s polite, and that’s where I’ll end my criticism. I could hurl more abuse his way, but what’s the use? I cant end his tenure at the club.
Our failings in the January transfer window was just another nail in our coffin. Lambert allowed Bent and Robinson to go out on loan, a new striker was an absolute must.
With Benteke struggling for form, and the permanently impotent Weimann and Agbonlahor the only other ‘strikers’ at the club, every effort should have been made to bring a fourth striker in.
Yet again Fox, Lambert and Lerner failed to rise to the occasion.
This club will lose its premiere league status like so many others we’ve all been saying the same thing in one form or another ,but let me put it this way if we get dumped into the. Championship we as a club will lose instantly 100 million in revenue we will lose Delph , benteke ,okore Bacuna , Gil , senderos ,we must then of load lowton Bennett ,Luna , helainius , given ,cole gabby , plus several others now what about the parachute money well it’s chump change in comparison to the revenue which will be lost , now if we can’t offload some of theses players learner will see this club fall into admin within two seasons unless he is ready to put his own money in to keep the club afloat .
All of this hasn’t just happened over night it’s happened over three seasons it’s happen because learner employed a manager who didn’t understand the true implications of his own actions in three seasons he has learned nothing about the 433 formation that he’s insisted on using game after game after game , he was incapable of managing his own back room staff resulting in bullying , he then made the wrong decision in employing Roy keane as assistant which ultimately failed due to (other commitments) which he new might become a problem ,and now we don’t have an assistant who he can fall back on for help , the new coaching staff are failing big time in getting the best out of these players and lambert himself is no real motivator of men ,and men is what we need right now not lost boys looking for somewhere to hide i
It going to take a man of Churchill Style with balls of steel to turn our club around and quickly ,unfortunately this won’t happen soon , it’s going to take atleast 3 weeks to get the right man in and by then we could be rock bottom ,you can’t put all the blame on learner he has backed lambert with cash ,it’s just unfortunate that learner doesn’t have what it take to run our club .
So we sack lambert and we plan for next season we get the right man in with passion , style motivation , and the will to win at all cost and on top of that learner must learn very quickly how to run a premiure league football club ,we are not a toy that you play with every now and then ,we are a way of life that deserves better ,much better
There is definitely a ‘Good Team’ waiting to break out fom the constraints of our current style of play, we just need a Manager who can recognise that and embrace a philosophy of moving the ball quickly in a forward trajectory. Not kick and rush or the long ball game, just go forward with some speed and purpose.
There is no doubt that we have weaknesses and certain players who are ‘not fit for purpose’ but we also have some very good and dare I say talented players who need some direction from any half decent Manager, I exclude the current encumbent Manager. Nearly three years have passed under this current regime with excuse after excuse, inept Management, poor Coaching, bad Signings, constant battles against Relegation, broken Promises that we are developing and investing in Youth and so on and so on. Quick couple of questions:
1. What happened with the Head Coaches last year, were they sacked and if so why, what were they doing?
2. What really happened with Roy Keane, personally not one of his greatest admirers off the pitch but certainly he was a winner on it, could he not accept being with a Management Team full of losers and ‘no hopers’?
Quick run down of our team:
> Guzan – generally very good and reliable, can’t kick for toffee.
> Hutton – consistent, reliable, threat going forward, loves the battle, star performer, why was he ever ostracised and put out on loan?
> Clarke – very consistent and reliable this year, come on leaps and bounds, needs to be more consistent vocal.
> Okore – looks solid and dependable, a real defender, needs to be more vocal.
> Cissokho – waste of time, can’t defend, can’t pass the ball 5 yards, scared of going forward, can’t cross. In fact if they gave him a job description they’d have to sack him tomorrow.
> Cleverley – not so clever Cleverley, waste of time, adds nothing, can’t pass, can’t dribble, can’t tackle, running out of clubs to go to, send him back to Man Utd.
> Delph – Undoubtedly a very good player, needs to lead team like Dennis Mortimer, cut out silly mistakes, glide past players like we know he can, boss the midfield and score some goals.
> Westwood – believe in yourself, you have the skilll to influence and win games, look forward not sideways.
> Sanchez – started poorly, came on leaps and bounds, looks like he could be a real midfielder, what happened at Arsenal, dreadful performance went missing in action. Prone to the odd and sometimes lethal silly mistake. Potential to be a star performer, needs to create and score some goals.
> Gil – A star in the making if he continues to perform, carry on believing and producing, you could be a hero.
> Cole – once a very good player, past his sell by date, building up his retirement pension.
> Richardson – once a player, past his sell by date, building up his retirement pension.
> Weinman – generally puts in a shift but little productivity or end result, frustrating.
> Agbonlahor – headless chicken, can’t score, poor close control, can’t pass, can’t beat opponent apart from pace, can’t cross, no movement. The only reason still at Villa is nobody else ever wanted him, wouldn’t trust him with the weekly shopping let alone the Captains Armband, can’t lead the line let alone the team.
> Benteke – Where have you gone. we know you can play and score, stop moaning put in some shifts and lead the line.
> Kozak – Star signing by Lambert, no pace, no skill, no goals and no clue, and yes I’m still on about Kozak not Lambert. Unfortunate injury but never a Villa player for the future.
That’s just a selection of the main spine of the team at the moment, the problem is they need a Manager who can inspire them to perform. We don’t have one and our only hope is to SACK the current Manager as he is hopeless and hapless. I struggle to understand him on Match of the Day mumble, mumble, mumble, so let’s get someone in who can clearly articulate a way of playing some decent football.
It is not too late but someone needs to ACT NOW!!!
We have been in this kind of situation before but for me something is different and although i think by and large you have to stick with a manager on a bad run of form i believe it’s time to get Lambert out. Totally appreciate that it’s not him on the pitch but everything that goes on, on that pitch is his responsibility and as such he is not fit to manage any Premier League team. I know it’s not the most popular memory some have but i long for a John Gregory type manager who puts his heart on the sleeve and loves the club. Like someone above said we need a Churchill, someone to lead and inspire, someone with balls and vision. There’s no time to make massive changes to the way we play tactically but GOD can we put some fight in the boys and make them a TEAM. They need a kick in the arse and some belief and a system that works even if they aren’t used to it.
Learner was a wonderful thing for this club for a few seasons and seemed to make all the right moves but he has lost interest and we need to have the accountability that another poster mentions. Lambert would walk if he had any honour but he’ll stay on for the sacking and pay out like the piece of mercenary poop he is.
I love this club and i hate where we are it breaks my heart. I just wish the owner and manager shared that passion.
I agree with all of the above, the problem is, we can see the problems, but Lerner and Fox can’t, we’ve seen it since Lambert’s second season, he had the benefit of the doubt for his first season.
Even though there’s disaster after disaster, Lambert has the full backing of Lerner, who knows he has failed if he sacks the manager, so he closes his eyes and ears, and hopes for the best, well Mr Lerner, last night was the best so suck that up and prepare for the worst.
Surely he has go to go, No leader on the pitch and no leader of it.
Why did we let Albrighton go for free then bring Sinclair in because we needed a wide player. At least Albrighton was Villa through and through. Cowans must be ready to slash his wrists the way our own youngster are treated. Grealish, Robinson, Albrighton, Gardener. Who actually thinks that had Gardner had a run of 20 games like Cleverley he would have no assists or a goal to his name.
Get him out now and bring Laudrup in before someone else signs him up.
It might cost a bit to get Lambert out but who is to blame for that. New 4 year contract down to Fox and Lerner. God knows how much Lerner will be able to sell for if we are relegated but maybe Doug can buy it back for £35m it wont be worth much more.
Essentially Lambert could have two games left. If Villa lose against Leicester in the cup at Villa park on Sunday and Stoke at home next week, then Lambert’s position will be untenable. Not sacking him at this point might cause rioting. I hope the board have a replacement in mind.
If Villa go through in the cup and at least draw with Stoke and score a goal, Lambert will probably survive the season. We need Ron Vlaar back in the team on Sunday. He has been in general a lucky talisman
hes gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hoooooorayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhh hhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
just the worst,,,,,,,,,
ever,,,,,,,,,,,,,
thank fk for the fox
I would have thought the queue at Villa Park would stretch from the Doug Ellis stand to Witton Island to get this job as manager. Its a dream job really, where else can you get a job where the boss is over 5000 miles away and you only see him once a year when you get an all inclusive long weekend to New York,
While Houllier, McLeish and Lambert have all struggled there has been one common denominator. LERNER. For Gods sake get the Hell out of Aston.
If its true Lambert was sacked over the phone that’s some class act Fox is turning out to be. Clueless Yanks all of em.
