Just A Quick Word Brad!
Just a little word in your ear Brad. I’m not trying to tell you what to do, but do you think you could play the ball out from the back a bit more please. Its just that, when the ball is constantly kick up to our centre forwards for a flick on, its actually very rare that the second ball is being picked up by one of our players, I just think its becoming a bit predictable.
It would also mean that our possession stats would be a lot higher. If we’ve got the ball then we not under pressure. We have the players who can hold on to the ball, its just that if we trust ourselves to play out from the back a bit more, then we’ll actually get better at it, especially under pressure conditions. Ive been watching Brad keep goal for us since he’s been made number at one at the Villa and I would say that’s this is his only bad point.
Maybe Brad is under orders from Lambert to employ this tactic constantly, if so then I address this little message to you as well Paul. So please ask Brad to mix it up a bit more when he’s got possession of the ball. Pretty Please 🙂 UTV
I’ve been thinking that for a long time. I wouldn’t mind if we was getting the second ball more often but we don’t. But Guzans still my number 1.
Guzan is my number one to. But in order to retain possession more, we need to play out form the back. I wouldn’t say that would solve our possession problem but it might go some way to helping it. utv
Think this has become a recent occurrence mainly more noticeable this season. Would suggest it is instructions from lambo the third goal against man city is classic example how it can work but is pretty ugly to watch. Agree need to mix it up a little as it is becoming one dimensional hence comments from media after Tottenham and Chelsea game about us playing the long ball. This maybe due to the fact that Lambo did not get the player maker he wanted in the middle of the park during the summer therefore is going more direct. Unless Gabby is playing we often also lack width so can make it difficult to play out wide, but definitely needs looking at as we will develop a tag of long ball team which can be hard to shake off.
