It’s been a long time since we got a win against Spurs; this just couldn’t go on forever because the ‘Law of Averages’ says so. But we thoroughly deserved our win today, and it could have been an even better score line if Gabby’s chance hadn’t hit the post and if Delph would have put that golden opportunity away in the second, but never mind, we’ll take the win.
But there is concern for the injured Ciaran Clark who came off early in the second half; hopefully he’ll be fit for Wembley next week.
But one player who will definitely miss out on the Cup Tie is Carlos Sanchez. Sanchez has been getting a little stick from the Villa faithful for a while now. They feel he gives away possession to easily, I do agree to a point, but please remember, Sanchez is still getting used to the Premier League and he’ll be extremely disappointed to miss the chance of playing at the home of world football. I feel sorry for him because he’s one of us, a Villan.
As far as Spurs is concerned, they should have no complaints at all, the best team won today. They were extremely lucky not to be on the end of a thrashing in terms of our very good missed chances. It would do them good if they’d take the loss like a good sportsman, but I don’t think there’s any chance of that happening. And the 59th minute silly tribute that was planned for our manager Tim Sherwood, well that fell on its arse, didn’t it! We Won Suckers!!! HA HA HA HA!!! UTV
Glenn,
You won the game because we were piss poor today. As for the 59th minute tribute that was never going to happen as most of us spurs fans weren’t interested in that rubbish. Lets see how you feel about Tim Sherwood next season
Let’s see how u will feel about loosing him to villa next season when villa would be finishing above spurs
Aww bless. Don’t win football matches very often do you?
You should be aware that Sherwood starts well but his aggressive attitude soon grates on players as it would in any environment. Genuinely have no bad feelings towards the bloke or villa. Just don’t think you should be gloating too hard. Last laugh and all that
Agree, we won and did well but gloating is a step in the wrong direction, admittedly Villa supporters have had to endure away fans celebrating at most Villa home games and its not great. Spurs and Villa have produced some classic games and been pretty well matched, until Villa’s demise. The relief of possible premier league safety (crawling over the line again) is understandably somewhat overwhelmingly but I’ve always found Spurs fans gracious and easy to travel with, long may it continue.
Spurs fans not being sportsman ? have you read your article. You thoroughly deserved your win we were poor Benteke was excellent why not enjoy it rather ‘haha’ at Spurs
Spurs lacked mental strength, cohesion and creativity. They never really looked like scoring and getting at least a draw from this game. They should have known that Benteke was the ‘danger man’ to watch. They didn’t. Sherwood knows very well how Spurs play, so he was able to adopt the right strategy for his team to beat Spurs.
