Villa fans are very touchy at the moment, and watching what you say as not to offend would test the diplomatic skills of any politician. Erick Black’s Mrs told him not to take the Villa job for the remainder of the season, which caused quite a stir, because he agreed with her. But listening to those comments rather than reading them, I realised there was nothing really in it, in fact, he probably needs his head checking for taking on this crazy job! For me, my problem with him is his reluctance to drop players from the side who are apart of this negative vibe, so sort it out Erick!
Erick Black’s latest press conference confirmed what we already knew, that the Villa dressing room is a toxic place, and the sooner we get someone in to sort it out, the better, but that someone isn’t Stiliyan Petrov! Stiliyan announced that he hopes to get back into professional football, maybe even at Aston Villa. No one can doubt Petrov’s commitment to the Villa cause when he played for us, but the reality of him coming back into a Villa side that’s engulfed in turmoil, well, it’s not going to happen for many reasons I’m sorry to say.
By the way, what did you make of Gabby’s message of apology to the Villa fans? For me, you should never throw an apology back into the face of someone who’s giving it, but the apology does have to be sincere, right? Because of the many pictures that we’ve seen of him out enjoying himself, his lack of fitness throughout the whole season and constantly being a disruptive force in the squad, I find it hard to accept! All season for many seasons, the Villa fans have had to listen the players saying various things about how they’re going to put it right and this that and the other, well, we don’t want to hear it anymore!!!
So Gabby, I’ll only believe that you’re sorry when, I hear that you’re not causing any problems in the dressing room, you’re putting it in on the training ground, and your performances on match day reflect what we expect of every Villa player, giving 100%, every time, all of the time! UTV
I think you have got it about right on each of your points. Eric Black has been particularly disappointing, how on earth did he get the job? I know he is a professional No 2, not having manages a club since 2004, and you can see why. Of all the managers since O’Neil he has to be the worst, some achievement considering the length of his tenure. However we should be careful of what we wish for, I for one am not convinced that Pearson is the man, as well as a volatile personality and anger management issues his judgement is also suspect. He attempted to sell Vardy to Sheffield Wednesday for 5m because he thought the player would not make it in the Premier League, well Mr Pearson we all make mistakes but your baggage is too much for me.
