I Didn’t See That One Coming, Did You?
After Tuesday’s night effort I didn’t think we we’re going to get anywhere near a draw let alone a win today. So you can imagine how I felt when at the end of ninety minutes we got a win, it felt soooooo good!!!
The first half ended 0-1 to Man City with a Toure goal, but from my point of view I felt we were good for a draw that half, due to the System we employed and the discipline we had to carry it out. Even though City had the majority of possession, I didn’t feel like they were completely dominating us like some Villa fans were suggesting on the radio when we were making are way home from Villa Park.
Karim El Ahmadi scored our first goal which sent the Villa faithful wild, up until that point Villa Park wasn’t really buzzing but after the goal went in Villa Park really came to life, pity we couldn’t be like that all the time! But wouldn’t you just know it, City only scored a Dzeko goal five minutes later, it must be written in the stars for us to concede like this always.
Bacuna got Villa’s equaliser on the 73rd minute with a great free kick that left Hart standing still with no way of getting a hand to it. Then came the winner, Guzan kicked the ball up the field to Weimann who found himself in space and rolled the ball past Hart, from where I was sitting it seem to take an eternity for the ball to roll over the goal line but when it did, dare we dream of a win!!
With what turned out to be the winning goal by Weimann, it left twenty minutes of play including added on time, which was five minutes incidentally, hmmm. So with us closing in on an unlikely win, Villans around me were saying they would except a draw now, but with our luck on how we concede you might have taken it, if it was possible to do so. But thats not reality, so the game continued And We Won!!! UTV
My Man Of The Match – Leandro Bacuna
Do you agree with me? If you do or don’t then please leave a comment. Thank you.
Football never ceases to amaze me!! I had us down for a Newcastle win, we lost. I had us down for a lose against Manchester City and we won. Well done Villa!!! UTV!!!
I don’t think anyone could have predicted a win for the villa. But you have to ride your luck when you get it. Remember Chelsea vs Villa we should have had a penalty and Chelsea should have been a man down, no luck. KEA off side, yes, the linesman didn’t spot it,we got a bit of luck, lovely.
just what I was thinking TheVillan a bit of luck equals itself out over a season so take it when you can , but what impressed me the most yesterday was where we lacked the quality of city we beat them in heart and tenacity..great result
Great result very proud of the team. lamberts tactics was spot on. played like the away team letting city have possession in areas where they could not hurt us. personally thought that Guzan had a quite game and apart from corners where we conceded we were very comfortable. Reports suggest that we were totally outplayed first half. Don’t agree at all just feel we had a plan and stuck with it like Italian teams of old most threating when they look useless. Really impressed with team ethic and it was a nice touch when team celebrated with lambo, as football clearly shows you can buy the best players in world but you carnt but spirit, passion and desire. Well done lads
Well said Daley, well said mate.
