If there is to be a new owner of Aston Villa and he happens to be a billionaire, then I hope more than anything that we don’t go down the same road as Chelsea and Manchester City.
Yes, I want the success these two clubs have achieved, but I would like to do this without going down the foreign route totally.
I know money can lure the best players in the world and I’m all for a sprinkling of true foreign talent, but if there is a talented British footballer young or old, then we should move heaven and earth to buy that player. Look at Connor Wickham of Sunderland, you could argue that it was his goal’s that kept Sunderland in the Premiership this season, and he’s a young Englishman!
The down side to getting a rich owner and foreign manager is, we could end up like Manchester City for example, a club full of Foreigners, this can’t be good! If the Premiership doesn’t watch out, there could be a real possibility that our top league could only have 10% of eligible English players to play for the national side. UTV
