When you lose a game this badly, there’s no hiding from it. Aston Villa were outclassed, outmuscled, and outplayed. Crystal Palace fully deserve their place in the FA Cup final.
Villa looked off from the start. We struggled to create anything meaningful. Emery’s picks weren’t working and probably needed changing much earlier. And when the changes came, I initially thought he got them wrong.
The one thing I will say. Morgan Rogers has been brilliant for us this season, but today, he’d have been the first I’d have taken off. I’d have replaced him with Malen. That said, Bailey did well when he came off the bench.
It’s easy to pick apart tactics after a heavy loss, but what Emery has done for us so far is incredible. Emotions are running high tonight, but I’m putting the brakes on any real criticism — for now.
Finally, credit to Crystal Palace. You were the better side and deserve to be in the final. I hope you go on to lift the cup for your club and fans. UTV
