Aston Villa vs Fulham Post Match Blog

aston villa vs fulham 3SHOULD IT HAVE BEEN ALL THREE POINTS TO THE VILLA ?

You could argue yes before the match. So why didn’t we get all three points then. If you look at the match its self, then you can see why. For some reason the first half had a feel of a exhibition match with both teams not finding much penetration in there forward game. Fulham right from the start were happy to keep the ball for as long as they could with out leaving themselves exposed at the back. Villa being the home side, you would expect them to press fulham’s back four, but like Fulham they seemed content to keep the ball themselves with the occasional chance.

Benteke had a chance in the 25th minute of play but blazed his shot over the crossbar, he really should have done better. Then on 32 minutes, another chance fell to N’Zogbia, a cut back from Benteke was met by the French man only for Shwarzer to make a great save. The second half was much better though. Villa had a great chance very early on with a Benteke’s shot from a Weimann cross. Then Berbatov was put through one on one, only for the Fulham striker to hit the post. I dont know about you but I thought that was a nailed on goal. Then on 55 minutes, Charley boy curled a great a great left footer past Shwarzer to send the Villa faithful crazy. But if your any other team in the land, you could go on and get a 1-0 win, but we’r Villa and unless we score more than one or two goals then you just know that we going to concede. And concede we did. Can you hear me sigh.

PAUL LAMBERT’S TEAM SELECTION AND DECISION MAKING.

Im sorry Villa fans but I just don’t get Jordan Bowrey at the moment. Eyebrows were raised again with his inclusion in the team and I think he should have come of a lot sooner than he did, as I believe he didn’t have much of an impact on the game, and with us being a goal up at Villa Park a change of N’Zogbia for Sylla baffled me after Fulham had scored. Lambert should have made the change a minute or two after we’d scored the games opener, and if he’d taken off Bowery for Sylla then I don’t think we wouldn’t have concede so early after Fulham’s first. So come on Paul lets be a bit more proactive then reactive.
