My God I wanted to win the FA Cup so badly, so to leave Wembley without even a sniff of a chance of us getting our hands on that wonderful trophy was quite disappointing. The optimism was there, the hope was there and even trying to come up with some plausible reasons for us winning was there too. There has to be some reality brought into the reasons why we were never going to win the cup. Look at where we’ve been operating as a club, the bottom of everything almost, and it could’ve been relegation if Tim Sherwood hadn’t come in to save us.
I’d like to thank Tim Sherwood for a wonderful job in saving our club from the drop; a huge amount of credit is warranted for getting more than a tune out our mediocre players. To beat Sunderland, West Brom, Tottenham, Everton and others, to perform so gallantly but then unfortunately lose against Manchester City and then to be brought crashing down to earth against Southampton, goes to show how much of a miracle worker Tim Sherwood is.
I’m not a bad loser but I do take losing badly. I also accept when we’ve been well and truly beaten and you should touch gloves to your victors to show respect, but some perspective is needed, Mesu Özil £42.2m and Aston Villa’s entire squad Thirty Bob! Thanks once again for saving us Tim! But I refuse to take nothing from yesterday; I’m not going to erase the entire events of the final, because I had a wonderful time and met some wonderful people. The drive down to London, hooking up with friends meeting some wonderful people Villans and Gunners, will always stay with me.
Tim has got one long summer ahead of him and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already working hard to try and keep us in the Premiership next season. There will be players in and there will be most definitely players out. We might even have a new owner soon, but whoever is here or not, Tim will receive a decent transfer budget to work with. One last thing I’d like to say is, I’m proud to be a Villa fan, and when I see the flags flying and Villans singing Hi Ho Aston Villa, it makes me see where we could and should be one day and God Help any club who came up against us, you just wouldn’t stand a chance. I am an Arsenal fan and I just wanted to say how gorgeous your fans were on Saturday!! Even after the game I had quite a few hugs! I had a flat tyre and it was three Villa fans that helped me. I wish we could have both won, but in a way we did, for reasons of the occasion. Hopefully let’s meet again in next years final.
